10 Best Anime Shows You Must Watch in 2022

Anime is everything: love, life, and everything else, and it’s going to be big this year. As the anime season of 2022 approaches, there’s a lot to look forward to. The grand conclusion of Attack on Titan will be the highlight of the 2022 schedule.

Following that, popular series such as Bleach, Kaguya-sama: Love is War, Golden Kamuy, Mob Psycho 100, and 2013’s The Devil is a Part-Timer! will return for fresh seasons. The Demon Slayer, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and the second season of My Hero Academia will all premiere this fall. There are several venues to watch anime right now, including Funimation, Crunchyroll, and Netflix, among others.

New anime releases in 2022 include Spy x Family, Blue Lock, and Chainsaw Man. The bizarrely crazy Sabikui Bisco, futuristic Tokyo 24th Ward, and the artistically lovely Akebi’s Sailor Uniform are the latest anime to check out for the winter. Which anime shows are worth bingeing from the winter through fall seasons, with hundreds to choose from? We’ve put up a list of some of the best anime shows and films.

In some way, the best anime in each category transcends its genre. Each anime series causes drastic changes within its genre or stands out for various reasons, including excellent animation, a superb story or characters, voice acting, and other elements. If you’re looking for the best anime to watch this season, then we got you. Here are the 2022 anime releases you should add to your watch list.

1. Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 2

10 Best Anime Shows You Must Watch in 2022

After a surprising part 2 announcement in March of last year, Attack on Titan is officially back! You probably already knew this because the premiere of Part 2 crashed the Crunchyroll website owing to the large volume of visitors. At last, Attack on Titan is finally coming to an end after nine years, four seasons, and many slashes of giant napes.

Attack on Titan will adapt the last chapters of Hajime Isayama’s best-selling manga series for The Final Season Part 2, revealing the larger battle between the anti-Marleyan Volunteers and the citizens of Paradis.

Attack on Titan is frightening, but it isn’t a horror show. Suppose you can get past the titular titans’ ugly, inside-out look and the terrible finality with which they consume their victims. In that case, you’ll be rewarded with an action anime that’s also rich in plot, mood, and character development. While there are arguably more outstanding action anime series than any other genre, Attack on Titan is the finest because no one is ever completely secure, and the stakes are always very high.

Where to watch: Funimation, Crunchyroll, VRV, & Hulu

2. The Devil is a Part-Timer!

The Devil is a Part-Timer! Over a decade after its first season, it comes back to serve humor straight from the grill. The series tells the story of the demon lord Sadao Maou and his new life as a fast-food restaurant employee in the human realm.

Sadao, formerly the conqueror of the Ente Isla realm, is now a financially disadvantaged young adult living in the heart of Tokyo, Japan. If you haven’t watched the series since it first aired in 2013, now is the perfect time to do so. This anime has established itself as a must-see for everyone looking for a good laugh in the most normal and strange circumstances.

3. Golden Kamuy

10 Best Anime Shows You Must Watch in 2022

Golden Kamuy, the medieval Western-style adventure anime based on Satoru Noda’s 2014 manga of the same name, was renewed for a fourth season earlier this month. The “immortal” Saichi Sugimoto, a veteran soldier in the Russo-Japanese War who begins on a mission with a little girl named Asirpa in search of a lost pile of riches hidden someplace in Hokkaido, was last seen on television in 2020.

The series is recognized for its deadpan Coen brothers-esque sense of humor, with moments of subtle brightness and colorful, eccentric characters, despite being violent in its representations of violence. With Brain’s Base taking over production duties from Geno Studio, Shizutaka Sugahara replacing Hitoshi Nanba as the series’ chief director, and Takumi Yamakawa (To Your Eternity) stepping in as chief character designer, the upcoming season of Golden Kamuy will feature several behind-the-scenes changes. If you haven’t already, this is as good a time as any to catch up on the series.
